… I opened up the treasure box … it carried memories, thoughts, and every day moments from the past … it could be helpful, I thought … to find how I can verge on the past … the long past of the father of medicine … certainly it could not be scientifically … had to be done experientially andconceptually …

3 yellowed stamp catalogues dated back to 1949 strike my attention … they are full of life, knowledge, experiences … can’t talk though … I can be of a help! … and they can assist me too … becoming the surface of my artwork … the background and the texture of my etchings … my silent succorers of sentiments … but one leaf can’t stand by itself … needs company … and that’s where the coincidence game starts …

number 3 is persistently nesting in my mind … 3 sheets are very few … 3 engraving molds is a fair number though … I start tearing sheets and play around with various options of placing them … the dimensions of each page are 12Χ21 (that is 3Χ3) … finally I decide to place them 4Χ3 (that is 12=3 again) that looks balanced … I place them loosely and the dimensions occur are … 63,3Χ49,8 (that is again 3Χ3) … magical, I think … and it happens by itself … maybe 3 boards will make the final artwork more complete …

… but why so many 3, I wonder … and that’s how the research starts … number 3 is known as the sacred number of ancients … it is considered perfect-complete … and it’s found in numerous philosophical systems and civilizations (Ancient Greece, Egypt, India, Babylon, Etruscans, Celts-Galatians, Scandinavians) … all basic concepts exist always in triads (Wisdom, mightiness, beauty, or Being, mind, secular soul, or Origin, cause, essence, and more other) … «everything that exists in the revealed world have three characteristics … three basic principles and four aspects of the manifested nature, like the seven-fold synthesis of human being, which contribute to a unity … with three spheres: this of the Body, the Soul and the Cognition» … I read … and the Christian teaching carries on «this trivalent, etheric energy» and calls it Holy Trinity consubstantial and inseparable and refers to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit …

… and the research doesn’t stop here … the Ippocratic methodology has 3 fundamental principles: clinical observation, experience and rationalism … and it is based in the nosologic triadic principle: patient, illness, physician …

… the socking coincidence of number «3» comes to an end – or even better just begins - with the plant I am dealing with … ipposelinon … or wild celery … Smyrnium Olusatrum L. it is scientific name … the numerology of which, based on the Pythagorean System gives … 3 …

3 kilos of celery got mashed, squeezed and sprayed on top of my etchings, in order to have nature – the third element of my artwork after history and art - leave its own out print in the narration of my little history … and finally to share it with you …

thank you father
