…when yesterday meets today, it is a liminal moment where the energetic field becomes especially charged… it is the moment of awareness, of self-awareness, of transition… it is the moment when “becoming” (gignesthai) - in the Platonic sense – as something changing, unstable, yet perceptible, is set against “being” (einai) – the permanent, the immutable, the intelligible …
…is it the dynamic energy that can lead to change, to revisions, or to new perspectives; … or perhaps it is a philosophical imprint of memory as a bearer of evolution … an evolution each person negotiates throughout life, through the experience of the journey… as a concept, as essence, as practice, or as quest …
…memory gives voice to our identity… and time to our mobility … without memory, our identity would be fluid… and without time, we would lack the impulse for movement, for change, for growth … memory tells us who we were, and time pushes us toward who we are becoming…
…the installation transition explores precisely this dynamic balance between the stability of our identity and the mobility of the flow that shapes our path… revolting gates reflect our present and allow us passage into the future through the experience of the past … a past conveyed through the repetitive—almost obsessive—linear narration of time, through images, objects, memorabilia, notes, letters, sketches, and keepsakes…
… 8 gates which – as in many ancient cities – symbolized complete protection but also an opening toward all directions … 8, because as a number it embodies the balance of the spiritual and the material, but also wholeness and infinity … 8 thresholds through which the viewer does not simply pass … but becomes part of a lived experience where their reflection merges with their memories … and is invited to recall and “dust off” their own recollections, experiences, and emotions that are awakened …
… a transitional process of catharsis aiming to bridge yesterday with tomorrow through the consciousness of now… a passage of becoming: from what has been, to what is, and toward what is yet to come …
